A 2021 Recap

I've never done a full recap at the end of the year, but here we are. I enjoy reflecting back on on the year, and it gives you all a little insight into my life!

You would think that as a photographer, I would regularly take photos of everyday life too, but honestly I struggle with that. Many of the personal photos were not taken by me, and are not high quality photos, but reminiscing is still fun.

January

As far as sessions go, the winter months are always slow, but I got to photograph this adorable newborn. As far as my personal life, I played basketball and some hockey in the backyard with my family!

February

I got to do another indoor session (not my norm) and it turned out pretty cute! Love photographing this little guy and his family. I also got to go on a one-day ski trip, and finished my basketball season.

March

In March things got busy. I did not have any sessions, but Indiana BPA State Convention was held at the beginning of the month and as a state officer, it took up a lot of my time! As soon as I got back, softball season started. Towards the end of the month, I had spring break and spent some time in Florida on 30A!

April

This month consisted of softball and lots of it. I also went to Prom and enjoyed creating informational content for my seniors!

May

School and softball ended towards the end of the month. I also got to photograph the sweetest first birthday party, and prep for summer!

June

June was kind of crazy, but it was also so good. I started my Internship with Victoria Rayburn Photography and it was the best experience. I learned so much about running a photography business, and got to assist at a couple weddings and sessions throughout the summer! I also lifeguarded at a small pool over the summer. Along with my jobs, I had the opportunity to virtually attend the American Legion Auxiliary Hoosier Girls State. My parents celebrated their 25th anniversary, and we had family photos taken by Victoria Rayburn Photography!

July

My grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary, and took the whole family on a trip to Cozumel, Mexico. It was a great time and you can view the trip blog post here. I also got to have my senior photos taken by Victoria Rayburn Photography, and turned 18 at the end of the month. My first class of 2022 senior session was in July as well.

August

August consisted of volleyball, the start of my senior year, and attending football games. Getting back into the routine was good, but it was also somewhat hard knowing that the school year starting was the beginning of a lot of last experiences.

September

The start of photography busy season for me. Being primarily a family and senior photographer in Indiana, almost everyone prefers the look and weather of September and October. Volleyball games took up a lot of my weekday evenings which was a lot of fun, and I also got to play Powderpuff and was on the homecoming court. Senior activities also started and we painted our parking spots and had Volleyball Senior Night.

October

October was the month with the most photo sessions for me. It also marked the end of my volleyball career and the beginning of my last basketball season.

November

I had a few more family sessions to fit in, and had a ton of schoolwork. The "phasing-out" of sessions was at the perfect time with my school schedule. For Thanksgiving, we went to Arizona to be with family and also had our extended family Christmas. The warm weather and sun were pretty amazing after it had been so dreary in Indiana!

December

I chose to take the entire month off of senior sessions, and focused on finishing up editing, school, and basketball. It has also been great to celebrate Christmas with multiple Christmas parties and family events. We also went on a family ski trip in Colorado, and the view of the snow-covered mountains will never get old.

I hope you all have had a chance to briefly reflect on the past year, and are looking forward to 2022! Change isn't always easy, but there is a plan for everything!

I'm excited to see what is in store for 2022 and to get to serve more of you! Happy New Year!
