SSP Travels | Cozumel with the Schambach Family

Last week I got back from a trip with all of the Schambachs, and you guys- It was the best! A little relaxing, a little adventuring, and a lot of fun! To be completely honest, I did not do the best when it comes to taking pictures. I'd been to the island once before and just didn't feel the need to document everything again. But, my dad is the opposite! He got pictures of mostly everything, so a large majority of these are his photos. Also, they are not edited. The water is really this blue.

I definitely would recommend Cozumel to anyone looking for a tropical getaway! There's crystal clear water great for snorkeling, and if you go to the south side, white sand beaches! We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, Fiesta Americana, which was great for the large group!

Wednesday

Wednesday was our travel day. We all met up at the Houston airport and flew directly into Cozumel. The day was overcast and pretty rainy so we all hung out under an open air area with a roof at the resort, rather than jumping right into activities! The views from the plane were pretty amazing once we got to the island!

Thursday

Thursday was our first day on the beach! And... I only have one not-so-great photo. It was a chill day and we got to snorkel right off the shore. The snorkeling was super cool at the resort, which was convenient!

Friday

This was probably one of my favorite days! Friday was our snorkel excursion with Punta Sur Divers. Yes, all 20 of us went! We went to 2 different reefs, and El Cielo which is just a super sandy ocean bottom with lots of starfish. That night, we went to an ocean side restaurant that was not part of the resort, and it was great to watch the sun set!

Saturday

Punta Sur is probably my favorite place on the island. It's hard to beat the white sand and clear water! I attempted to take a photo there for my 4-H project. I'm not sure if I will actually use it, but it was fun trying to get angles in the branch without terrible shadows on the shell (see photos below). We relaxed some, but we also played Spikeball and went snorkeling. The coolest part about snorkeling at Punta Sur is the purple fan leaf coral. There is tons of it all in the same area and it was mesmerizing to watch it sway in the water. This was definitely the day that the most people got sunburnt.

That evening we did family photos on the beach! It was interesting trying to pose everyone and make sure everyone was looking when the camera was on a tripod, but I would say it was a success.

Sunday

The 4th of July in Mexico is not as exciting as it is here in the states, obviously, but it was great to be on vacation! The reason we all went on this trip was to celebrate my grandparents' 50th Anniversary! They were married on the 4th, and it was fun to "relive" their wedding with them. They surprised us by bringing their wedding attire and a bridesmaids dress for my cousin, and we had a mini destination "wedding"! We made an aisle for them to walk down, and then had devotions.

The rest of the day was spent poolside and on the beach. Unfortunately, I got stung by a jellyfish. Makes for a good story, though:). I greatly dislike shots, and it felt like I was getting shots for at least 2 hours. Vinegar and hot water did the trick, and the swelling and pain went away within a couple hours. That evening, we went to La Choza in town for a great dinner and dessert.

Monday

Monday all of the guys, except the two youngest, went deep sea fishing in the morning. They caught us enough to have for dinner, which tasted great. The rest of us hung out at the pool most of the morning.

In the afternoon, we walked down the road a little ways to snorkel back to the resort with the current. Once again, the snorkeling was amazing and it was really cool seeing all of the colorful fish.

Tuesday

Tuesday was our last full day. In the morning we drove around the coast to see the other side of the island.

In the afternoon, I enjoyed spending time floating in the ocean, and laying out by the pool. There's a really good chance all of my friends are going to tell me how I'm still super pale... and yes, I am. But I am not as pale as I was when we left and I try to be somewhat safe with my skin in the sun:)

Wednesday

Before we left for the airport, we all took photos by the Cozumel sign at the resort. On the way to the airport my family stopped at Crazy King Burrito, one of our favorite places in town, for lunch. The airport was quite small, and it was a new experience for us having to climb the stairs to get onto a plane!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all the vacation photos! I am already ready to go back, but I have jobs I have to show up to every once in a while! I hope you all have a great rest of your summer!
